I'm worried about the endless grinding I do working with steel.
I use earplugs AND -28 ear muffs, but I can still hear a lot of noise. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on reducing the noise further? Like special plugs or something? Or should what I do be enough to rule out hearing damage?

Araich, If you can locate a top of the line hi-fi audio shop they should have great ear-plugs that eliminate the decibel level tremendously without sacrificing the integrity of the sound. They are about $10-12 per pair--not your usual neon-colored foam plugs. These are the type I own. Hope this helps! |

I have one of these:
http://www.ceotronics.com/english/pr...eo-active.html Hard to say if the active component really works... In theory it should. Having a knob for adjusting volume is quite convenient though.
