Lovely sounds (unless you were living next door to it!) sort of reminded me of huge mammals breathing and talking to each other.

Another Adelaide artist, Margaret Worth, made and installed a sea/sound piece at one of our local piers and it too makes interesting noises from the actions of waves and tides. See http://www.margaretworth.com.au/index.html for details of her work.

This is interesting, Arrow. Thanks for sharing. But Rick has a good point the sound is not so lovely if one lives or works close to it.

Related to this, I notice only recently that pipe organs can also work with water, not only with air. This quote below is from Wikipedia on splash pads.

".... the hydraulophone, a musical instrument, similar to a flute or pipe organ, but in which sound is produced by water jets, ....



An example ... can be found in TELUSCAPE Hydraulophone, the Ontario Science Centre's centerpiece. ... this piece is circular, with various water pipes rising up from the ground, but each of the pipes is an organ pipe, part of a large outdoor pipe organ that can be played by interfering with the flow of water through the jets of a hydraulophone."
