Bronze cost

Hello,

I am interested to know if the cost of bronze is particularly high at the moment. I have heard that Chinese foundries are buying it up and driving up the cost.
Any thoughts on this anyone?

Thank you.

Re: Bronze cost

I understand due to strong demand, the prices of steel, aluminum, copper and other important metals have all gone up in recent years.

Re: Bronze cost

Hi,

Does anyone know where this may stop? I have read some doom and gloom articles that there is no sign to the end of metal inflation.
Even that a Henry Moore sculpure was stolen for scrap.

What will this mean for sculptors who mainly work in metal, and also other metal related arts and trades? This must be really anoying for them and higher prices may deter some customers? Is anyone experiencing changes in attitudes to people buying works due to higher metal price.

I have sarted a vocational correspondance horology course involving metalwork for possible extra salary and also a partial interest, I am having second doubts, as this involves use of a lot of metal for gears etc.
My original aim was to construct metal timepieces with sculptural elements.
I got to the stage where I need to buy a watchmakers lathe which is a lot of money.

I dont want to go down any dead end roads.

Sorry to sound doom and gloom, but this is something that should concern people I feel.
