Soft foam rubber covers for toddlers

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how these toddler " Soft foam rubber covers toys" are built. These are little characters that you see in malls and toddler gyms. It looks like different animals and objects that are semi-soft with a glossy rubber feel to it. The only place that I found that make these are here:

http://www.primeplay.com/play-soft.htm

I also have an attachment of of one these characters for you to see.

Please, if anyone has any idea, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks a million.

Mike

Re: Soft foam rubber covers for toddlers

I don't know if this link is helpful but maybe it can lead to some answers for you:

or send a message to the person who started the thread (it's an old thread so maybe contact her thru her web site?) and maybe she can offer you some information.

good luck!

Thanks for the referral. I spoke with her and even though she was familiar with the process, she could not share it with me because she had signed a Non Disclosure Agreement with the company that she was working with for the process. I'm still looking elsewhere to figure this out. Thanks for your help.

Seen similar idea using carved polystyrene and sprayed using a polyurethane coating. Their are many types depending on the degree of flexibility or hardness and many applicators/suppliers (dependant on location) Here is an example
