Re: Obama

If it weren't for the title, I would think it is a sculpture of a gangster turned used car salesman. With the title, well, I guess that is rather accurate!

Re: Obama

how supportive of you glenn...

What inspired you to sculpt Obama?
The wrinkles make his suit look ill-fitting, was that intentional?

Re: Obama

Yeah the excess wrinkles around his groin are distracting. His suits always fit like an expensive suit should. Men usually unbotton their jackets when in that position??? It looks like Bush's suits and dumpy stance. However the skill level is good. Especially a small figure. It is much harder for me to sculpt small. I like massive sculpts! I'm working my way up.

I think the level of skill is not in question here. I think the criticism is about the character of this man. He is a very sharp dresser. This suit is not him.

How did you like working with Sculpty? I never have used it. I think you did a good job on the sculpting! Scout

Re: Obama

I agree with the above comments on clothes and fit. Also, the face seems fat or wide to me. President Obama has a fairly long, narrow face. But you do show good skills in a small piece.

Re: Obama

Another snide comment by GlennT. If the face were that of Georgie Bush, would the comment still stand?

Of course not. It would look more like an insurance salesman.

BTW, the name is George, not Georgie. Thanks for being "snide" free.

Re: Obama

And like most insurance salesmen, peddling lies and false promises.

Re: Obama

Looks like Bush, I'll take a lousy Bush over a good Obama any day, I think that is what you really have here. Is it a Freudian thing going on here? You have a nice talent, good stuff is for sure in your future.

Re: Obama

Whether it looks like, or characterizes, President Obama, I find irrelevant to the piece as a work of art. The thing is alive.

Re: Obama

It is pretty good, I am not a Obama fan ,but do have to admit, it has a lot of "life" and character. What is ""supersculpey", is that like a modeling clay,? ..looks like it might be ideal for making a model, for perhaps a larger piece, in my case stone.

Re: Obama

I have to say you picked a subject that overrides your work. At least at this time in history. I cant tell you how many people Ive listened to that would like this guy shot in the back of the head, hung and then dragged behind a truck, not just hillbilly's but some with nice clothes to. But then the grand wizard lived not more than 7 miles from where I'm land locked.
I think any one in that position has there part in killing some village people over a forest, oil, or plain water ,,, defending what is rightly theirs. You wont get any thing accomplished unless you get your hands bloody, did I say bloody I meant muddy.... Its just some people in life enjoy that part or at least having someone take care of it so they can watch it on the news.

Art works much better for me when it is not diluted with the iconic culture of politics or religion.

Very nice work, I think you nailed it, but yes I catch my eye going to his privates and the one button on his coat. I have a small block of sculpty I want to try out. Is your piece then backed hard and did you have to wire any of it up ?

Thanks for posting,
