This is an image so well known that most viewers remain unaware that many historical references have been omitted, in order to highlight the fact that the church has distorted the historic events surrounding the original crucifixion. Further the work attempts to demonstrate the faith and confidence that is required to accept the account as presented by the various religious doctrines.
