I'm a fan of Al Paley. I haven't seen that much of his public work in person, but he is amazing. Also, he was a really interesting speaker at the last big ISC conference.

I have seen this sculpture in Asheville many times. In my opinion it is a perfect compliment to its surroundings; particularly in the fall when the natural corten patina harmonizes with the fall colors.

Albert is the man,and his early work is really hot.Don't hate me,but as a blacksmith supplier I deal with in Ashville said,it looks like he went to his scrap pile and pulled out some pieces for the commission.A lot of people in Ashville were expecting much more from a seasoned pro like albert, but what the heck I would be happy to be a drop off in his studio burning on the floor.Nice piece, but I wanted to see bending, twisting, detail hammer marks, more charector. So I am a couple years late on my opinion.....

I live in Asheville and see this sculpture on a regular basis. I like the varied and somewhat unpredictable views that one gets while moving around the sculpture. I also like being able to walk through the base of the sculpture. It is interesting, but overall, I find the design a bit too random. I think that is why many local people regard it as a pile of scrap metal.
