The title to this particular work refers to the implied structure of the image, and can be considered a sharply-barbed retort in the never-ending ‘battle’ of the sexes. An extended and more complete phrasing of the title might begin: "Darwin’s answer to his wife" in response to the idea of woman as object. Using an absurd twist on the theory of evolution as a starting point, the work takes the idea of the woman-as-object and reduces it to two green (ecologically-sound) pairs of lips presented on the background of irregular red (unbridled passion) marble.
